Dior Fashion Show never disappoints me. It surprises me every time, whether venue, stage design or their collection.
Taking place at the Paris-Longchamp hippodrome, Dior SS20 Fashion Show brought us to their secret garden surrounded by more than 160 trees. The trees that appeared for the duration of this show will continue their journey, joining several long-term projects so that this pluralistic garden’s life may endure. It is a good symbol signifying that everyone can contribute to the cultivation and preservation of nature’s beauty – and our future.
For the spring-summer 2020 ready-to-wear collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri drew inspiration from archival photographs of Catherine Dior, Christian Dior’s sister, muse and essential protagonist in Dior’s history – showing her surrounded by flowers in her garden, and her passion.
Chiuri opted to stage the runway in the middle of a secret woodland garden, with the models walking between the trees.
This new collection evokes – through its motifs and embroideries, through shine and the texture of raffia – a vision of luxuriant vegetation, presented in the manner of herbaria, living catalogues and the memory of botanical species.
I really love the whole concept of the show and collection. Thanks for having me again. See you next season.
